Fighting the Villain is an Alternative/Progressive rock band from the San Franciso/Bay Area. Formed in 2005, the band consists of five friends from high school, taking their musical hobbies and turning them into their careers. At the start of 2008 is when the band got serious and they released their first EP “Turn to the Ruins.” They got a spot on The Vans Warped Tour in San Francisco, and it seemed like this was just the beginning. Aaron Axelsen, Music Director of Live 105 got hold of their EP and immediately gave them airplay. Their single “What’s Left” became the top 5 most requested song from September - November of 2008. The band was then offered to play Live 105’s BFD, one of the biggest annual music festivals in the Bay Area, on June 6, 2009 along with many well known bands such as; The Offspring, 311 and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Following the buzz of BFD and all the airplay ,they signed to local indie label Popsmear Records (The Action Design, Tragedy Andy, Love Equals Death) and in 2009 the band recorded their Sophomore EP titled “First Impression.” Since then the band has been getting tremendous amounts of support. They have been getting spins from radio stations all over the US, from New York, Ohio, North Carolina and of course California. In December of ’09, the band released their first music video for their single “What’s Left.”
With touring being planned for all 2010 and with new material coming out later that year, 2010 is the year for Fighting The Villain to break out of the Bay Area scene and unleash their talent on the world.
